Guidance for Umpires and Scorers

The guidance is the same as last year with two exceptions  - the requirement to create batting lines has been removed and the interval between sanitation breaks is now simplified to 6 overs.

Please note that this on field guidance is valid until further notice but will be reviewed as UK Government restrictions are relaxed.

All information to ACO members will be in an Over & Out email from the ECB shortly. The Over & Out will also clarify the insurace position and also shared travel which is currently not permissible with anyone from outside your household or your support bubble.

Please note that this guidance applies to England only. Officials’ guidance for Wales will be issued in due course.

For DBS and appointments, we now had new guidance from ECB Safeguarding about whether an official can be appointed to games if they do not have a current DBS but have an application pending. For clarity, no-one should be appointed to any games until they have a “clear” ECB DBS. There was some flexibility previously but this is no longer the case and now any umpires that fall into this category, CANNOT be appointed until their DBS is updated.

Please note that DBS are being updated all the time and if you have any queries relating to your DBS, please contact ecb.aco@ecb.co.uk
